How Can I Figure Out What's Halal At the Grocery Store? | Dr. Shabir Ally & Dr. Safiyyah Ally

- Navigating #halal and #haram ingredients can be overwhelming, especially for new Muslims scrutinizing every label at the grocery store. Dr. Safiyyah Ally and Dr. Shabir Ally dive into the question with wisdom and empathy. Dr. Shabir explains that Islam is a religion of balance and practicality, not extreme restrictions. He clarifies that tiny, transformed ingredients in everyday products like bread, cheese, and ice cream don’t automatically make them impermissible. Dr. Safiyyah and Dr. Shabir explore how Islamic teachings prioritize ease and common sense, urging viewers to focus on what’s clearly forbidden while not getting lost in an endless cycle of ingredient-checking. #Islam, they remind us, was never meant to make life difficult; it’s meant to guide us with compassion and clarity.

I’m a new revert. I’m trying to change gradually. Right now I’m focusing on finances, modesty, and consistency with prayer and reading. As far as halal foods, I’m not eating pork, road kill, or alcohol. I do plan to continue working on halal ingredients, but I “have enough on my plate” right now. All the food I eat is free from food banks, except for the eggs from my chickens and plants from my yard. As I grow, hopefully I can keep making changes without becoming obsessive.
Alhamdulillah, I’m so glad that he’s using intellect and making Allah's Deen easy on the people,I became a Muslim in the early 90s I remember the difficulty of that time,I had nothing halal around 3 countries in Florida, back then it was so different,
Here’s a thought, why is gelatine considered Haram by some and not others. Considering that it may start from a Haram source , however, through it’s extensive chemical process it no longer contains the characteristics of what made it Haram in the first place. Some people will think things through, while others just simply don’t think.
Muslims can use kosher if they can't find Halal labels which is more common. I'm Christian and for several years i followed the jewish dietary laws, ie no pork or shell fish. I rarely ever drank anyway. I got away with it after i got married.
I don't know. If a food has a bit of pork for flavoring, even if the amount is miniscule , it becomes haram.
Assalaamu alaikaum. I've been watching your videos for a long time and mashallah they are very helpful. And this topics is very important because I live in Belarus and halal products, Christian country is a constant topic discussion. Next time give references to the scholars who have given these views for e.g the donkey falling and soo on so it gives more context inshaallah. Jazakallah
Five time pray will tell every thing what is halal and what is heram hal.all and hr.ram
you need to clarify that statement about gelatine
What do people do if they can't get halal meat where they live? I tried going vegetarian, but my energy and health suffered and I had to start eating meat again. I know there's online shops where you can do bulk orders of halal meat, but I don't have a freezer to keep large amounts, so that's not an option right now either.
Just eat whatever you want. There is no god and therefore there are no rules. You are free! No supernatural Daddy controls your life.
I'm not Muslim, but I've heard you can use kosher as a substitute.
Soo flesh of the swine is haram but the pigs gelatine halal as in ingredient??

Why do the Islamic and Christian Religious Scholars, still, even in this 21st century, preach to BELIEVE in the existence of a Creator, Allah or God, when there is a possibility to REALISE the cause for the Creation?😮😊
What would that be. Science stops at the Big Bang but who created the Big Bang
Assalamualaikum team and Dr.
You never disappoint Dr. Shabbir good quotes and answer
Doesn’t the alcohol in cooking wine get cooked out of the food?
Not completely
As Salaam Alaakum. Haram is Haram you can't make something Haram, lawful. If food has pork in you can not eat it.
Everything is halal until you have cancer or non alcoholic fatty liver diseases 😢
If Isla m was meant to be practical it's anything but. With thousands of rules detailing minute details of everyday life it's about legalism and ritualism, devoid of an actual purpose of what religion is meant to be which is a means to God. Food doesn't make people unclean, it's what people carry in their hearts. And this is the living faith.
Food can kill you or cause disease. The Qur’an is not complicated, but most follow many other books which came much later. When people add to the religions, they make it more complicated.
@Muraqabah.1 Food can kill.when it's spoiled or not prepared properly. That's why these rules were in place centuries ago.
@@artifexdei3671 Much more than that, but you are not interested. You just want to eat things that are forbidden and trying to make an excuse. This is very common. Carry on.
for someone who detests Islam, you sure spend a lot of time here. Don't you have better use of your time? You seem to waste as much time ranting about Muslims wasting their time following their religion!!!!
Jesus taught that it is not what a person eats that makes him unclean, but rather what comes out of the heart and out of the mouth. Matthew 15
Your Bible is corrupt and changed by man to fit the narrative so first authenticate the Bible then preach
The emphasized thing is the priority and that doesn't necessarily mean all food is permissible. As far as i know Yeshua never ate pork eg
Matthew 15:11, which states, "It is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a person," is primarily about the Pharisees' emphasis on ritual purity, specifically hand-washing, rather than dietary laws. Jesus emphasizes that internal moral and spiritual purity, such as avoiding evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, and slanders, is more important than external observances. The passage does not explicitly declare all foods clean, as it does not use the Greek word "akathartos," which refers to unclean foods. Additionally, the New Covenant, as seen in Acts 10 and the Council of Jerusalem in Acts 15, suggests that dietary restrictions were still considered important for the early Christian community, such as abstaining from food sacrificed to idols, blood, and meat from strangled animals. So, while Matthew 15:11 highlights the importance of internal purity, it does not necessarily give permission to eat all foods, including those considered unclean in the Old Testament.
Is that part of the old or New Testament?
With almost absolute certainty gods do not exist. So please enjoy your life and food without bothering what a fictional supernatural creature would think about it. Enjoy your life, you only have this one.
