Social media one shocked me the most
I'm from Poland and there was quite big tournament in June in Warsaw which was streamed on YT. It turned out that Krzysztof Kciuk, tour card holder at the time, has qualifiedfor the event. So an event organizer just asked PDC if Kciuk can play in front of camera and there was no problem. Two games with him were streamed
Yes you can apply for in writing permission
Hi Mathew 2 questioms for you
1 what if you dont do social media ?
2 what happens if you dont participate with the media at all for example the media questions after a match ?
Thanks
Interesting to see how restrictive some parts are but i guess the PDC need to protect their IP.
It was interesting to see how many times you said interesting when discussing the interesting points of the pdc contract. Interesting
Thanks Matt good video. Perez played a couple PC events in June so he is good for this year I think
Yeah valid point forgot that
-operate in a way that enables themselves to have their cake & eat it at the expense of the lower ranked players that are left to struggle.
In regards to radius and time for exhibitions from PDC events. Players play exhibitions in Ireland the weekend after a Premier league night in Ireland
not a ranked event
Guessing it was more than 30 miles from venue?
Christian Perez played on the pro tour in Germany in June prior to the WCoD. PDC cannot revoke his card in January
And clause no.7 - they will own part of your soul!
Great video as ever Matt, appreciate what you do - cheers 👍👍
Barry Hearn will take ownership of those souls.
😭😫😝!
I still want to know what the 2% cut to the PDPA is for!! I was wondering about Perez and Cadby. Perez was on video so excited when he won his Tour Card then doesn’t participate. Revoke both of their cards and make available for new players who will play in events.
I think it's a mix of salary for the staff and also the services to the players; I think I recall Chris Mason talking about health, nutrition & fitness experts that the players have access to and such, but maybe Matt can elaborate.
@@watercra thanks for the reply. Maybe Matt can make another video about services the PDPA provides. I am still skeptical about that 2%. Tony Soprano used to collect 2% also.
@@watercra Health nutrition and fitness now that will go over most darts players head lol
@@BraxtonRobert-j2i I wonder what the likes of Jocky Wilson would have thought about such a concept.
@@BraxtonRobert-j2ipdpa out here advising peter wright to have 5 pints before each match
I can't play darts but if I did, being required to use social media would be a massive deal breaker for me and I would never want to be bound by a rule like that.
Very interesting, you did good! 😄
Scott Williams played on stream for Humberside quite recently should he be in trouble for that?
So does this mean a pdc tour card holder could technically play in a pdc event within that 30 days of losing their tour card?
Not without your privledges
OMG! Win your tour card and then take 6 months read the contact - lets hope its in digital format
On the 12 month clause, does it specifically say the main PDC tour? Or just a PDC event? If Cadby had qualified for the World Series in Australia, a tour like the CDC, or a qualifier of some sort.. would that sort of thing count?
The local tours (CDC or DPA in Australia) are not PDC events. World Series might be though
@@BraxtonRobert-j2i they are not, but they are PDC affiliate tours.
The social media thing is very petty from the PDC, especially when the players are not employees of the PDC.
What if you don’t do social media?
Do players have to have social media
What if you don't have a social media profile, what happens then?
Great video Matthew keep it up!! Are you gonna do European Championship coverage again?
Yes will be covering that 100%
Great@@Edgartvdarts
Why has Corey Cadby not been playing any events since getting his card?
Visa issues
@@MyFoodeater ahh. Been a naughty boy in the past and the UK Visa Office have got the hump
Corey can still enter the PDPA qualifier tho
Only if he can get into the U.K. though. Thought he was bummed from U.K. entry given the issues he had back home in Australia. Our immigration wouldn’t let him in. Didn’t he play Q-School in Germany so can obviously get a Schengen visa to play in most of EU. Hence surprised he didn’t play some of the German PC to keep his card live.
Yeah don't know whether he can get a short-term visa for UK, back in August he said he will never get to enter the UK ever again, so maybe he should hand the card, and see if he can get a visa next year so he can play adc oceania and play the modus super series, he can't play the dpa because he's banned from the venues, but in 2025, he can then resume his pdc career with going q school with an actual visa. Not sure why he'd go q school knowing he didn't have the visa to travel...
Love the videos
Cheers pal plenty more to come
Can a player end the contract?
Players should start negotiating their contracts with the PDC. Before signing, state what you agree/disagree with and remove/cross out clauses in the contract that is too authoritative. It claims to help the sport and the players but it doesn't.
What if they aint on social media matt or does that speak for itself
Yeah think it be only if you have it
Some if these rules wouldn't hold up if they were challenged under competition law. The players are self employed and the PDC restricting their income.
Just like the football super league.
That title lol
Just done it 😂
make a predict for ec in dortmund
I will be putting that out Wednesday
@@Edgartvdarts ❤️ love you
Don't know how long Cadby's family has been in Australia but I think if even one of Grandparents were born in the UK he could get a UK passport. That would be a middle finger to the Immigration office or maybe they can refuse the passport on character grounds.
So, tour card holders couldn't participate in an event called "This is NOT a world championship!", because there is the word "world" in it? :)
Also, Disney World won't get many darts event name sponsorship offers :)
Corey Cadby is a weird one
Matt when you comment on modus super series
I’ll be back in a few weeks
I strongly dissagree with stream ban. If you looks at chess, events are geting more view because streamers are playing
With all due respect my friend, they don't care what u think
The difference, imo, is that chess is growing as a spectator sport, whereas darts has a dedicated audience already. Streaming could cause players to just watch their favourite player and ignore the main events which devalues the PDC product.
Darts is almost at the point of oversaturation now. 170 days of PDC darts events. That is an insane number
All the contract clauses are about the PDC and nothing for the player. The WDC before they became the PDC, broke away from the BDO because they didn't feel like they were getting a fair go. Seems like history is repeating itself to me.
As for the social media post. What an outrage. Imagine your employer saying you MUST post about the company you work for on your personal social media. You have got to be joking me.
The ban on competing in any tournament with the word, "World", is unambiguously, a ban on playing in any WDF tournament, despite the PDC saying the players are independent contractors. Sounds like a restriction on trade to me....illegal.
Perez played World Cup and some PCs in June, just before World Cup. So probably only Cadby would be in danger
Good point
An employment lawyer could take the PDC the cleaners.
Pay to Play
Very one sided & typically expecting to opera
